EKN Series Blood Bank Refrigerator

The EMSAS EKN Series is a range of pharmaceutical-grade blood bank refrigerators designed to safely store blood and blood components at a validated temperature of +2C to +8C, with high-precision control accurate to +/-0.1C.

Each unit is fitted with a user-friendly, password-protected microprocessor digital control panel and two independent temperature probes – one monitoring the internal cabinet air and one dedicated to a blood/plasma sample – giving a true reading of storage conditions. System data is logged for up to 30 days internally and can be exported via USB in Excel format for up to 10 years of record-keeping.

The cabinet interior and pool-type drawer system are constructed from AISI 304 stainless steel, with each drawer fitted with a plexiglass front cover, internal dividers and reinforced base support. A multi-airflow system with a fin-type evaporator and fully automatic defrost ensures even temperature distribution across all shelves, while double-layer tempered glass doors with a lock system and magnetic gaskets protect the cold chain.

Safety is supported by a built-in rechargeable battery backup (up to 48 hours during power failure) and a visual/audible alarm system that activates on temperature deviation, door-open condition, power failure or sensor failure. The series is certified to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485, CE and ISO 14001, and comes with a 2-year warranty.

The EKN Series is available in six capacities – from the compact EKN 25 (70 L / 25 blood bags) up to the large-capacity EKN 600 (1,310 L / 672 blood bags) – allowing hospitals and blood banks to select the right footprint for their storage volume.
