The Raycell Mk1 is a self-contained X-ray blood irradiator used to irradiate blood and blood components, eliminating the need for a radioactive source. It uses a self-contained cooling system that requires no external water connection.
The unit weighs 650 kg (1433 lbs) and operates on single-phase power (21A at 208V/60Hz, or 19A at 230V/50Hz), with a rated environmental operating range of 10-30C and 5%-75% relative humidity.
Photon energy is rated at 160 keV max (~50 keV effective energy). The irradiation canister accepts 3 bags of 300 ml each per cycle and is available with a Regular Filter or Step Filter configuration, each giving a different central dose rate and dose uniformity profile.
